This term our year 2's have been very busy with their geography inquiry project! Our little explorers have been travelling around the world to different countries, getting to know the culture, trying many traditional foods and seeing the iconic landmarks and attractions whilst collecting stamps from all over the world. They have learnt all about the continents and oceans of the world, as well as key geographical terms such as latitude and longitude.
Here are some questions that you may like to ask your child to help consolidate their learning at home:
Can you tell me about the continents?
What might you be able to do in (Brazil, Egypt, Sydney, Canada, Japan, Italy)?
What do you know about the words latitude and longitude?
There is a great range of children's literature available to you and your child about different places around the world. You may like to explore some of the books shown below or even find your own! The local library and YouTube are excellent, free places to find children's books to enjoy with your child.
During their travels, our little explorers sent postcards to their loved ones about their journey. We invite you to come and collect your postcards and read all about your little explorers adventures. You may have some questions for your little explorer about their wonderful journey to a country they have chosen to visit.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Miss Nguyen, Miss Smith or Miss Anderson in the form below.
We look forward to seeing the amazing things your children continue to create!
